- Although reciprocating steam engines are now used to a limited degree in industry, their potential value in underdeveloped areas, remote locations, and as fixed site power systems should not be underestimated. Their multifuel capability and high reliability as well as their simplicity of operation and maintenance make them as important today as they were at the time of their introduction. This paper discusses design and modifications for their use in specified applications.
