- Springback from tension loading has been quantitatively assessed for 5182 aluminum alloy after various percents of rolling reduction. Aluminum alloys 5182-H140, 2036-T4, X7046-T6 and 1010-CQ steel as commercially produced also have been evaluated and compared in relation to springback, both in tensile and bending situations.Laws of plasticity are used to develop stress and incorporated with laws of elasticity to calculate recovery strain and overbend angle. Formulations are given to compute springback strain and springback angle. The author shows that the modulus of elasticity, strength coefficient and strain hardening exponent are useful in calculating springback.
