- Concerns about rising temperatures in engine compartments and around the exhaust train as well as need to reduce noise have become of greater importance to the Automotive Industry. This has led to the application of a special class of refractory materials with excellent thermal acoustical properties to automotive problem areas.Redevelopment of processing techniques results is ceramic fibers which can be utilized in modern vehicles in applications such as: air bag inflator filters, thermal and acoustical heat shields, friction modifiers in brakes, and reinforcement of metals and engineering plastics.
