THE SIZING OF A V/STOL AIRCRAFT FOR MULTIMISSION APPLICATION

The objective of this paper is to evaluate mission requirements and establish a methodology to determine the optimum size and characteristics of a multimission V/STOL aircraft as a replacement for current operational aircraft. The Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Airborne Early Warning (AEW) missions as applied to the Navy’s Type A V/STOL multimission aircraft are used to illustrate the methodology.
