- This paper describes a technique for flight control system reconfiguration following a control surface failure. The methodology involves the reallocation of flight control commands to the surviving control surfaces following a failure. The algorithms developed are aimed at reconfiguration without pilot intervention and the preservation of normal aircraft flying qualities over an expanded array of fault/battle damage conditions. This ensures that the probability of mission success and completion in the presence of battle damage is increased.
