Science & Technology Designing Exhaust Systems

The following document is a set of guidelines intended to be used as a reference for the exhaust system engineer with the potential for application to the field. This document draws upon the experience of the author and thus contains many “rules-of-thumb” gathered among some automotive projects. When necessary, publications that are more detailed are referenced. The intent of publication of this document is to provide a reference to assist in automotive exhaust system quality work efforts and to solicit feedback from the general exhaust system quality community as to the completeness of the material presented. To that end, contact information for the author is given at the end of the document.
