Authors Abstract
Content
Fading friction grip demands another set of tyres in winter to give the car best possible control of any marginal situation. The driver never gets used to suddenly changing friction levels. The means through stud development, rubber technology or winter tread patterns will soon be exploited, and in view of road abrasion we are facing essential decisions to be made. Cars constructed for summerlike conditions do not necessarily behave in a satisfactory way in conditions of winter when the car due to a low friction level no more gives enough response. This problem cannot possibly be solved within power of tyre manufacturers alone.
