The challenge faced in automotive electronics is to achieve military grade reliability at affordable product cost. This paper describes embedded electronic product development cycle and the various requirements to be met at each stage. It outlines the methodologies that can help build Quality and reliability by design into hardware and software. The design verification and validation methodologies are explained through the case study of SCL Anti -lock Brake System (ABS) ECU development.
