Communication interconnection and interoperability in cislunar space have become
an important development direction for low earth orbit satellite internet to
extend into outer space. To address the challenges such as the difficulty in
cross-domain interconnection of heterogeneous spacecraft, insufficient
compatibility of protocols and architectures in the ground station, earth orbit,
lunar orbit, lunar surface and extended networks, this paper reviews the current
development situation of the US and China’s cislunar space networks, and
summarizes six challenges in the aspects of link layer and network layer
protocol standardization, addressing and routing, gateway design, information
security, and multi-system integration. Based on this, this paper proposes
constructing a cislunar space network centered on IP protocols based on the USLP
link-layer protocol, which adopts a combination of two-layer switching and
three-layer routing addressing mechanism, multi-gateway interconnection, hybrid
security architecture, and multi-protocol stack compatibility, and clarifies
four key technologies: network protocol architecture, standardized routing
gateway, electronic data sheet, and network digital modeling and simulation. An
integrated network system covering the five domains is constructed, achieving
unified standards, fault tolerance, safe and efficient interconnection and
interoperability for cislunar space spacecraft, which can provide core support
for human lunar exploration, deep space exploration, and the perception and
development of the cislunar space.
