- The rehabilitation phase of management is concerned with complications and uncorrectable problems that have resulted from the original injury. Similar problems may be caused by injuries in several different organ systems. Problems include weakness or paralysis, pain, loss of motion, loss of a limb, or functional disability. Each problem area must be approached from the point of view of prevention, specific treatment, and functional restoration. This presentation will attempt to outline some of the general principles of rehabilitation and to review some specific problems in management of disabilities resulting from lower extremity injuries.
