- During the combustion process in the internal combustion engines, the semitransparent heat-insulating coatings (SHIC) accumulate penetrating radiation in visible and near IR wavelengths from the full thermal flux in the combustion chamber (CC). Accumulation of radiant energy is due to volumetric heat absorption by the SHIC under intensive radiant heat flux. The subject of this paper is to determine the optical characteristics (scattering and absorption indexes) of the SHIC in order to regulate the temperature of the combustion chamber walls.
