AUTÓKUT has elaborated a process to utilize the instationary flow in the suction system of turbocharged motors, whereby a considerable part of the kinetic energy stored in the air column accelerated during suction can be recovered. Experimental results reported on earlier /1/, /2/, /3/ verified that this suction side pulsation might be used for a better fitting of the motor to the turbocharger just like the generally employed exhaust side gas pulsation. The solution is to employ pulsation amplifier resonators or, with other words, series connection of the so-called resonance charge and turbocharge, called combined turbocharging. In the reports referred to, the conditions of combining resonance and turbocharging, respectively, have been defined in detail, so the present paper is restricted to a survey of the physical processes in the suction system sufficient for the evaluation of the results of application.
