Abstract
Content

A review is made of recent developments in rotor dynamics methodology. The focus of the review is the U. S. Industry, in contrast to the Government and the Universities, with special emphasis placed on the work done at Sikorsky. Several analyses developed or modified in the last ten years are reviewed, and the capabilities of the analyses are described. These capabilities include the stated capabilities of the analyses as well as their maturity, expressed by the validation experience gained with them and the extent to which they play a role in engineering activity. Projections are made as to the expected evolution of the analyses. Major limitations and future needs, allowing for constraints imposed on development in the Industry, are identified, as are opportunities and techniques for validation. Approaches specific to software development in the Industry are discussed and compared with developments in the Government and Universities.
