A new turbulence simulation method has recently been developed which is useful for generating turbulence sample functions that are suitable for rotorcraft applications. The new turbulence simulation method in its present form is not suitable for real time implementation, for example, three-dimensional turbulence simulation involves triple summation of sinusoidal functions with respect to three spatial frequencies. Accordingly, this paper investigates the real time implementation aspects of this turbulence simulation method, viz., minimum number of blade stations needed in the simulation for adequate representation of turbulence effects on blade response in level flight. Also, a comparison is made between blade response results obtained using one- and two-dimensional distributions of vertical turbulence.
