In an explanation of Just-In-Time manufacturing, the author reviews the basic objectives of J.I.T., General Motors'specific goals, and General Motors’ implementation plans and progress. The author addresses the role of the Automotive Industry Action Group, and provides a thorough explanation of the frequently-used river and rocks analogy. Many examples of labor, material, inventory, and time savings are given.
