Abstract
Content

The problem of predicting the aerodynamics of the flow around blade tips is reviewed, and the different methods for predicting that flowfield are discussed. A solution procedure, based on the Euler equations is developed, and it is coupled with Gray's wake model for hover, by splitting the flow variables into components. One of the components is prescribed and the other is computed, while their sum satisfies the conservation laws. Calculations are presented for tip flows at transonic speeds and they are compared with measured data.
