- In upgrading an automotive supplier's manufacturing methods from a 1950's level of technology to a 1980's level, a number of problems were encountered in introducing robots for welding and materials handling. Some solutions are described with regard to the resources available to an engineering manager in a medium sized company having a largely untrained work force, included are some examples of what not to do, but emphasis is on successful techniques.
