Authors Abstract
Content
Technology in the form of enterprise equipment exists today which enables any vehicle equipped with appropriate client equipment to report information from itself to a distant server not local to the vehicle. Data from properly equipped ground based vehicles can then be collected, sorted, and mined for key operational indicators, which can accurately describe vehicle subsystem operation. A server application can then apply business, technical, or industry rules to determine if certain trends, anomalies, or other degrading health conditions exist completely or initial signs of failure are present. Using this approach, the definition and practical application of Remote Diagnostics is the intent of this paper.
