The Ford Motor Company's automatically controlled transportation system now installed in the Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn, Michigan and Bradley International Airport, Hartford, Connecticut, represent a coming together of a host of proven technical disciplines which form a mode of transportation that can move people effectively and efficiently within a confined urban setting.
This paper reviews the design parameters of Ford's automatically controlled transportation (ACT) from the viewpoint of the traveling passenger and from the visual impact the system has on the surrounding environment in which it must live.
