- Turbocharger systems which are sufficiently integrated and simplified to become an integral part of the engine package will be widely utilized for engine and engine-cabin pressurization systems. The use of the turbocharger to pressurize the cabin is allowing the comfortable utilization of the higher altitude power of the turbocharged engine. Turbocharger system progress in the past 3 years has eliminated components, reduced component weight, integrated components, and offers turbocharger system components that can be integrated with the engine. This has reduced installation weight and complexity, yet in the process gives superior functional performance. This is accomplished through better utilization of components and particularly through better understanding of the practical operational regimes that are required of business and utility aircraft. This paper gives information that will guide in the selection of turbocharger system components for engine or engine-cabin pressurization.
