- The objective of this paper is to examine the properties of vibration isolators that are used in marine diesel engine applications, develop a design that optimizes these properties to provide the best possible isolation performance, and perform testing in actual marine installations to verify the performance increase. The properties that will be examined include mount stiffness in three orthogonal and three rotational axes, system vibrational mode shapes and deflections, fatigue life vs. isolation tradeoffs, resilient material optimization, and manufacturability.
