Open Architectures Enable Affordable EW Updates

This presentation will provide an overview of implementable service oriented open mission systems architectures that have the capability to provide rapid and affordable upgrades to mission capability without significant impact to the mission avionic infrastructure on a platform. Successes with open mission system implementation will be discussed, with special emphasis on the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) and the USAF Open Mission System (OMS) effort to develop an industry consensus, non-proprietary mission system architectural standard. The applications of these architectures to sensor systems will be a particular focus.
