Authors Abstract
Content
A linear motor-driven subway uses a linear motor for driving and steel wheels for supporting a car body. This system has technical advantages: the car runs at steep grade (Maximum grade is 8%) due to non-adhesive drive, and the bogie can be designed with a great degree of freedom without a rotary motor suspended under a car body.
The car has steerable bogies steered by bogie angles and independently rotatable wheels using a powder torque coupling which enable the car to run along a sharp curve. (Minimum curve with 50mR)
In these advantages this system surpasses the conventional railway from the viewpoint of noise reduction.
