Next Generation Master Cylinder-Cartridge Type

This paper describes the design and operation of a master cylinder concept designed to meet the weight and packaging space requirements of down-sized automobiles and light trucks. The unique design utilizes static seals, telescoping pistons, concentric return springs, and a novel means of compensation. This approach takes advantage of aluminum die castings, aluminum stampings, steel stampings and engineering plastics to achieve the design goals.
