New CDC Engine for the CASE 580 Loader/Backhoe Machine

The decision to design and develop a new family of engines provided a unique opportunity to the J I Case Company. Because designs were started from a “clean sheet of paper,” engine options could be designed in parallel with machine engine application design and testing.

This paper addresses the major technical approaches, opportunities, and objectives that resulted in the repowering of the J I Case Model 580 Loader/Backhoe with the New Case (CDC) engine.
