- With the increasing interest in color displays for use in graphic design, pictorial realism, non-ambiguous and controlled color coding, and human vision research, the requirement for self-luminous display calibration becomes paramount. For several years National and International organizations have recognized this requirement and have initiated some test procedures for determining the physical parameters of a color display under different ambient lighting conditions. A review is given of the efforts by the organizations and the extent of work still required before the standardization of measurement techniques for task-dependent use of color in displays is finalized.
