- This paper reviews the current situation with testing, reliability/durability and safety of engineering product, that leads to recalls increasing and efficiency decreasing. Considers: inconsistent quality control, and manufacturing standards; historical decline in build quality; design priorities: style over substance; emphasis on power and size; slow adoption of technological advancements; competition American with Japanese and European manufacturers. Briefly describes the system, which the author developed for dramatically decreasing recall number as a result of successful prediction of product efficiency. Demonstrates common strategy of this prediction, five steps for improving engineering product, and step-by-step sequential strategy, which can help to increase the automotive product test level, reliability, quality, safety, durability, maintainability and decrease their life-cycle cost.
