Authors Abstract
Content
Each step in the evolution of the casting design of Chrysler's 2.0-liter/four-cylinder gray iron engine block is modeled using Technalysis' finite element metal casting analysis program PASSAGEĀ®/PowerCAST. The effect of different gating designs are investigated to determine the variations in temperature distribution and solidification time. Three different casting designs are evaluated by comparing the results of the numerical simulations.
