The automotive sector is transitioning to mobility of tomorrow and in doing so if focusing on electrifying automotive power train systems. In this paper evidence with be provided that Schaeffler is providing solutions which not only target the efficiency market but also performance with integrated torque converter technology. In 2019 Schaeffler launched its Modular Hybrid Transmission (MHT) with Ford which electrifies the 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. This technology has allowed Ford to electrify a portion of its SUV lineup without the sacrifice of performance which usually accompanies electrification. Schaeffler has continued to build on this modular approach and has P1 and P2 architectures to further improve efficiency and performance. Maintaining the toque converter as part of the architecture is key in maintaining performance requirements which are needed by the consumer in the mid-sized SUV and light truck market.
