Modeling the AH-64D Apache Longbow in a Network Centric Environment

This paper provides a summary of Boeing’s 2005 Network Centric Operations (NCO) demonstration activities related to the AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter. The goal of the combined live, virtual and constructive simulation environment was to explore and highlight technologies that can be immediately applied to Boeing product lines. Products in the 2005 experiment included F-15E Eagle fighter jet, CH-47D Chinook cargo helicopter, Unmanned Little Bird Demonstrator MD530F helicopter, Integrated Battlefield Embedded Training and Combat Situational Awareness System (IB-CSAS), and Joint Effects Command and Control (JEBC2) architecture. The 2005 NCO demonstration highlighted products in an asymmetric operational context similar to that found in Operation Iraqi Freedom utilizing network-enabled Joint Combat Operations.
