For development and validation of driver assistance systems, appropriate test, measurement and evaluation methods are necessary to evaluate and optimize the system functions under realistic scenarios. However, currently, no appropriate test standards exist. TÜV SÜD Automotive, an innovative development partner for the automotive industry, has developed and applied methodologies to measure, test, analyze and evaluate these systems, based on established standards for driving dynamics. These methodologies are presented in the following excerpts. Sophisticated metrology equipment from GeneSys allows vehicles to be linked together in a “car to multi-car” solution. This approach enables the relative motion state of two vehicles to be dynamically measured and evaluated in all directions; x, y and z.
