Methods to Reduce Seeded-Fault Test Requirements for CBM Initiatives

This paper provides a description of the effort within the Capability-Based Operations and Sustainment Technology-Aviation (COST-A) program to reduce the need for seeded-fault testing in support of condition-based maintenance initiatives. This effort is designed to be a systematic, comprehensive, and proactive approach to help expedite and simplify the creation of new faulted-component data sets, and to increase accessibility to existing data sets. These goals will be achieved by developing methods to identify and collect opportunistic data, by building models that simulate the vibration produced by faulted components, and by creating a central repository for data sets.
