Abstract
Content
As the development of hybrid vehicles starts to speed up, much focus is laid on the batteries, mainly due to lifetime and cost issues. The HEV manufacturers requirements on battery lifetime, both calendar life and total energy throughput, is challenging for the battery suppliers. Depending on degree of hybridisation and the utilisation of the vehicle, and also the type of battery chosen, the lifetime of the battery is often determined by either capacity retention or increased impedance.
