Abstract

In the future operation, regardless of how highly developed the cockpit design of automation system, the two aspects of “thinking ahead” and “fly the aircraft” in abnormal situations remain absolutely essential in terms of flight management.
It seems that some guidance system for “thinking ahead” will be necessary to prevent a tendency that the pilot just monitors or follows the process of flight by auto-pilot or throttle.
In the transition training the captain as a senior pilot is trained just how to operate new sophisticated systems on the premise that his basic repertory of safety knowledge and experience is reliably wide and firm in an emergency case. The phrase “with extensive and sophisticated knowledge” should be added to “fly the aircraft”.
