- FEV GmbH has developed a special measurement technique, which allows the simultaneous detection of the axial and radial movement behavior of the piston rings and the dynamic pressure behavior in the entire piston ring pack [1.]. At the same time also the dynamic deformation behavior of the piston rings can be investigated. The measurement studies were carried out over the entire operating map of a V6 petrol engine and can be used for analysis and deeper understanding of the dynamic effects in the piston ring pack [2.]. A selection of recorded measurement data is presented in this paper.
