Measurement of Bearing Loads Using Ductile Wire Inserts

This paper presents a description of Ductile Wire Insert Bearings and how they may be used to determine bearing load distribution, applied bearing load and bearing raceway misalignment. The technique is adaptable to both cylindrical and tapered roller bearings with standard components. Their ease of use, unlimited range of application and inherent accuracy lends them to a wide range of potential applications.
