Abstract
Content
The distribution of flow in a gas turbine rotary regenerator can have a significant influence on its performance. The results of an experimental study, conducted in a full-scale regenerator test facility, demonstrate the effects of measured flow maldistributions on regenerator performance. Test facility plenum modifications on the gas side and a change in the regenerator cover contour on the air side are shown to result in an increase in effectiveness and an improvement in pressure drop characteristics. Comparisons are made between effectiveness data and estimates obtained using an analytical model.
