Manual Transmission Synchronizers

At present in the United States, passenger car manual transmissions are almost exclusively of the strut type blocking synchronizer.

General design parameters for this type of synchronizer, including formulas, present design practices, methods of evaluation, and variables that most affect synchronizer performance, are presented.
