- The results obtained from a series of tests are described, comparing the effects (deformations and dummy load values) caused by lateral collisions at right angles on a subcompact car (VW Golf/Rabbit), impacted by a car of the same type, by an intermediate car (Daimler Benz W 123) and also by barriers with a rigid front (SAE) and a deformable front (CCMC). The sub-compact car of the same type was also used in dived braking position and impacts of the sub-compact car against the intermediate one were also undertaken. In the case of the deformable barrier, the mass of the barrier and the collision speed were additionally varied.
