Abstract
Content
In the last two years very little has changed in the international air cargo industry to improve the situation with respect to cargo growth, the need for improvement in revenue yield, the deficiencies of IATA cargo rate making, charters versus scheduled service, the intermodal era, and air-truck services. Each of these areas is reviewed, the problems updated, and proposed solutions are outlined.
Despite these problems the future of air cargo is promising because it will soon represent the major mode of international trade transport for general cargo, and our challenge is to make it profitable to the operators, efficient to the shipping public, and understood by the governments.
