The advent of advanced computer architectures for parallel and symbolic processing has evolved technology to the point at which prototype pilot's associate and autonomous vehicles are being developed. This paper will present the approach Georgia Tech is taking for the integration of an existing knowledge-based expert system with a rotorcraft simulation model. This work is considered a prerequisite for developing a rotorcraft pilot's associate or a completely autonomous rotary wing aircraft.
