This paper will provide a review of the current capabilities held by Rolls-Royce in the area of integrated propulsion systems for rotorcraft. By drawing on technology developed by its various divisions and joint ventures around the world, Rolls-Royce has been able to develop a portfolio of products and skills which enables it to offer truly integrated propulsion systems, both for civil and military rotorcraft. These areas, which the paper will enlarge upon, include advanced inlet particle separators, next generation turboshafts, advanced infrared suppression systems, gearbox technology and compound thrust technologies. The aim of this paper is to show how, by bringing all these areas of expertise together, Rolls-Royce is able to offer true integrated propulsion system capabilities to military and civil rotorcraft users, thereby maximizing overall system performance and cohesion.
