Abstract
Content

This paper postulates a number of system concepts for the navigation and traffic control of the types of VTOL commercial transport aircraft which may be available beginning around 1980. The constraints imposed by noise, G forces and turbulent wakes on terminal area flight paths, approach profiles and V-port capacity are described. Several concepts are summarized to meet the requirements of en route navigation, approach guidance, air traffic control and approach monitoring of commercial VTOL operations.
