In recent years there has been a trend towards the use of solid state instrumentation clusters especially in Japan and the USA.
Solid state clusters have been used on many vehicles worldwide, however there appears to be no pattern establishing itself as to the class of vehicle most suited to their use.
Since solid state clusters have not found their niche, the market is again favouring the more “traditional” appearance. With this move it is important to retain the advantages that electronics brought to the cluster.
There is therefore need for a cluster of “traditional” appearance but based on electronics. This can continue to provide improved levels of performance, functionality and quality found in solid state clusters.
A special air cored gauge has made it possible to meet all the needs of instrumentation into the 1990s.
