First flight of the V-22 tiltrotor was accomplished on March 19, 1989. Initial flight testing of the V-22 has involved three aircraft whose primary tasks are envelope expansion, flying qualities evaluation, and flight controls and avionics development. This paper addresses the flying qualities evaluation of the V-22 on the Primary Flight Control System (PFCS), that is, with a minimum of stability-and-control augmentation.
