Combustion characteristics, computable from a pressure trace are the most important information for engine development, especially with regard to engine noise, economy and emissions. Pressure trace brings most relevant information for engine development.
This paper shows the influence of typical measuring chaine errors on computed characteristics with the help of a pressure trace computing program.
Besides the typical measuring chaine errors like drifting of the pressure transducer, pressure level, and the different reaction of various transducers on thermical shock, also user-caused errors like TDC adjustment and crank angle resolution are investigated.
