Abstract
Content
THIS paper is a summary report on the general problem of raising thermal efficiencies of internal-combustion engines.
After presenting facts that accentuate the need for improved efficiencies of spark-ignition engines, the report continues with a review of past progress in the betterment of the engine-fuel relationship.
It includes, also, a short description of some of the engines of higher than normal efficiency that have recently been developed.
Finally, the report summarizes briefly the present picture of the engine-fuel relationship as it now faces the industry.
