Authors Abstract
Content
Significant improvements in dimensional stability of RIM urethane fascia materials can be achieved by reinforcement with milled glass fibers. This paper documents the effects of variations of part thickness and glass content on key properties related to dimensional stability. Proper combinations of base fascia material, glass content, and selective thickening of long unsupported sections can significantly improve the fit and appearance of automotive fascia and bumper cover parts, and still maintain their weight savings and damage resistance.
