- In today's commercal aircraft operations, during the most critical phases of flight, the pilot's attention is divided between the real world and an instrument panel intended to provide information about the aircraft's progress with respect to the real world. A head-up guidance system recently developed and certified, provides the pilot instantaneous aircraft path and velocity relative to the real world and precision guidance to touchdown. Benefits of this information and guidance include improved ability to cope with the atmospheric and terrestrial environment, and increased operational dependability.
