With the project presented here GME/OPEL was not only able to increase its noise and vibration test capacity but to rearrange the way tests are prepared, performed, and finally utilized.
The major objective was to improve the value of test results for project work by employing a completely integrated test acquisition /storage /retrieval system.
Four aspects were mainly considered: First, standardization of tests with fixed parameter settings of test- and measurement equipment. Second, detailed test description of the test object. Third, a common data base for all valid test data. This implied a common data format regardless of type and origin of data. Fourth, a powerful test retrieval and analysis system.
With the new acoustic data information system of networked data acquisition-, analysis workstations, and a data bank server the engineer will be able to acquire, store, retrieve and process the test data in a completely new way.
